The Space at Westbury Celebrates its 2nd Anniversary of Music, Comedy and Special Events

One of Long Island’s Best Live Entertainment Venues Kicks Off Their Second Year Celebration with Performances by The Mavericks, Don Felder of “The Eagles” Fame and more

October, 2015 (Westbury, NY) This month, The Space at Westbury, a state of the art venue for all types of engagements that opened its doors in 2013– will be celebrating its second year of bringing live music and events to the heart of Nassau County with an amazing lineup of shows including: The Mavericks Thursday, 10/29 and former Lead Guitarist of The Eagles Don Felder Friday, 11/6!

The Space management and staff wish to thank all the amazing patrons who’ve continued to support Long Island’s home of some of the best live entertainment two years running, which has included performances by Modest Mouse, Garbage, Comedian Artie Lange, Warren Haynes, legendary bluesman Buddy Guy, Motion City Soundtrack, Jason Isbell, Steve Winwood, Los Lonely Boys, Leon Russell, The B-52’s…..and that’s only scratching the surface!

Located at 250 Post Ave in the heart of Westbury NY, The Space is a shining example of real estate developers who reinvent abandoned buildings, in this case the almost century old Westbury Theater, to help revitalize the community. In the past two years, The Space has continued to partner with The Bowery Presents and other concert Promoters bringing fresh and innovative talent to the venue. During its first year, The Space lineup included performances by Billy Idol, Gavin Degraw, Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle, Moe, Comedian Chris D’Elia, 3 Doors Down, Better Than Ezra, and Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion. Special events included the 3rd Annual Gold Coast International Film Festival Gala, the Woodbury Magazine Ball for Autism, The LILGBT Spring Gala, Boxing matches televised live on Showtime and HBO, and an array of glamorous parties that can only be produced at a venue as versatile as The Space.

As a Concert Hall, Lounge, Movie Theater, and a spot to hold special events, The Space at Westbury offers every aspect of top-of-the-line entertainment imaginable. With flexible seating plans and state of the art lighting and sound systems, the venue provides the perfect palette for the creative producer, event, party and meeting planner.

Additionally, The All Music Inc. Lounge at The Space is essentially a second venue inside the same walls, with its own bar that can accommodate up to 125 patrons and can be used for receptions prior to special events, as well as further presentation of musicians, comedians and other performers! Comedy is in The Lounge every Wednesday night and Live Music is in The Lounge every Thursday night!

The All Music Inc. Lounge’s warm and inviting atmosphere is an ode to The Space’s former life as a movie theater- featuring a granite bar, lighting fixtures created from vintage movie reels and decorated with showcases which display antique film projectors. All of the shows on the main stage at The Space are also live streamed to be viewed at The Lounge at no cost to enter!

More upcoming shows include Comedian Richard Lewis returning Saturday, Nov. 7th, Steve Hackett of Genesis Wednesday, Nov. 11th, Shadmehr Aghili Saturday, Nov. 21st, and Hammer of the Gods (The Led Zeppelin Experience) Saturday, Dec. 5th!

More About The Space at Westbury

The Space was born with a different name on November 10, 1927 as The Westbury Movie Theater. The Westbury Movie Theater opened its doors to an audience that awed at the beauty of its Tudor style inspired auditorium. The feature for opening night was Hula starring Clara Bow. The Westbury Theatre was one of six theaters built by Salvatore Calderone in Nassau County, Long Island.

The theater succeeded as a single screen house until it was twinned in the late 1970s. As patronage decreased, the theater closed its doors. Over ten years ago Cyrus Hakakian and his partners saved the Westbury Theater from demolition. After viewing the stunning space, he was determined to preserve the magnificence of the original theater while repurposing the facility to accommodate all aspects of contemporary entertainment. With the installation of the state of the art lighting and sound systems, combined with the flexible seating plans, the Westbury Theater has entered a new chapter of its illustrious history as The Space at Westbury. You can feel the magic the moment the audience sees the spectacular LED marquee enhancing the outstanding new facade. A graceful tower provides downtown Westbury with an architectural landmark as theatrical glamour returns to Post Avenue. The excitement extends to the theaters south side on Winthrop Street with a new double story valet grand entrance. As the audience views its soaring ceiling and fabulous chandelier; it is apparent that every detail has been consider to make a visit to The Space at Westbury a most memorable experience.
