“Son of Sunshine Royalty” Carrying On Father’s Legacy With Debut Album Release OUT TODAY!

“Son of Sunshine Royalty” Carrying On Father’s Legacy With Debut Album Release OUT TODAY!

Ron Louis Smith II–Son of Famed ‘KC and the Sunshine Band’ Horn Player,  Songwriter, Producer, and Founding Member–Mixes Classic Sound with Modern Dance Feel in New LP

August, 2015 (Miami, FLA) — Having been pioneers in the Disco scene in the early 1970’s through mid 80’s, KC and the Sunshine Band soared with hits like “That’s The Way (I Like It)”, “Get Down Tonight”, “Boogie Shoes” and so many more, inspiring a dance revolution and even becoming the first group to have four No. 1 pop songs in a single year since The Beatles. Now, the son of the “heart and soul” in their legendary horn section–Ron Louis Smith II– is stepping into his father’s shoes with his very first album titled “The Prince of Sunshine” being released via Sunpire Records TODAY, 8/11 with a remix of “Can’t Let Go” by famed producer and “originator of the remix” Tom Moulton arriving soon!

As the ‘heir to the throne’ to a rich legacy which both his father Ronald L. Smith Sr. and uncle Jerome Smith helped create, Ron Louis Smith II is bringing the same high-energy sound and legendary “feel good Miami vibes” created in the height of the disco era back to the 21st Century party scene. As an accomplished producer, arranger, singer, and songwriter in his own right- Smith’s debut album brings Disco and Electric Funk, the highly rhythmic and powerful Junkanoo style and Caribbean flavor to eight tracks with an electrifying energy and driving potency that will surely cement him at the top of the international club-music scene in no time!

With the sensual yet danceable grooves of tracks like “Love Talk”, the high-spirited funky rhythms of “Don’t Hold Back”, and electrifying “Spank” (homages to his legendary father and uncle) the album is as lively as it is dynamic. With “Party Music” and “Can’t Let Go”, groove is on a whole new level as the stirring beats, bumping basslines, and powerful horn sections reminiscent of so many 70’s and 80’s dance classics come to the forefront.

As the ever-changing dance music scene continues to grow and morph into all kinds of new sub genres and styles, “The Prince of Sunshine” reflects the era of Smith Sr.’s electrifying dance hits with a bold modern twist assuring that Ron Louis Smith II may be a ‘chip off the old block’, but a rising star none the less. Hear for yourself, as “Prince” drops TODAY, 8/11!
