Long Island, NY (January, 2017) — Having sprung into the New Year and ending 2016 on another East Coast tear of shows hitting NJ, MD, NC, FL and NY, everyone’s favorite tornado of good vibes–NY’s own Oogee Wawa–is ready for more! Kicking off 2017, the band is set to hit the stage at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory with TreeHouse!, then back to Long Island to rock Amityville Music Hall before heading to have some fun in the sun with three dates in Florida! (Full List of Upcoming Dates Below)
2016 got off to an exciting start for Oogee Wawa, who headed out on their Island Hopper Tour in January, hitting stops in FL and the U.S. Virgin Islands, then conquering a string of epic shows which included opening for reggae legends Steel Pulse, a string of dates with fellow reggae-rockers Ballyhoo!, the Rocks Off Concert Cruise with The Movement, and taking the Main Stage at the Sayville Seafood Festival. The band also launched a Summer Singles Series releasing new tunes “Waiting on the Sunrise” with TreeHouse, “Palm Trees”, “Finding Fame” ft. Bumpin Uglies, and “Just Another Day”. Having played in the past with the likes of Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, Sublime with Rome, The Dirty Heads, The Wailers, Badfish, Ballyhoo!, Passafire, rocking the 2015 Beer Fields Craft Beer & Music Festival alongside Collie Buddz, making history headlining The Paramount in Huntington NY in late September 2015 as the first unsigned headliners to rock the venue, and hitting the road with a touring schedule of over 200 shows a year, Oogee released their second LP “More Sand Than Money” in April of 2015. After playing with 311, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and The Green at The Great South Bay Music Festival last Summer and the Long Beach International Film Festival’s “Taste On the Beach” last August 2015, the band also filmed a LIVE taping of “Rick’s Rising Stars” at Revolution Bar & Music Hall which aired on Verizon Fios Channel 1 and filmed an episode of “Live It Up!” with Donna Drake at IndiMusic TV.

Having recently added to their merch line which includes everything from an incredible new line from Long Island Glass along with shirts, hats, and more- the band that seems to make the live music stage a second home still has a ton in store! Before officially starting Oogee Wawa- MC Jesse Lee Roenbeck of Centereach, JP Aceto on guitar and vocals of Baiting Hollow, Chad Chadwick on bass of Selden, and Nick Loiodice on drums and vocals of Smithtown were friends just messing around playing the bar scene so many Long Island musicians know and clamor to on nights and weekends to get a little bit of that adrenaline pumping, big-or-small crowd cheering rush that comes with performing live. Forming in 2008, the band began playing consistent shows to ever-growing crowds before the release of their first LP- 2012’s “Ride Waves”, and as their momentum got going they quickly became the island’s in-demand alternative reggae act from Long Beach to Montauk.
As Creative Control Magazine recently put it- “To hold a successful party, you need loud, invigorating music that will fulfill the host’s one requirement: to keep the party going all night long. To complete this mission, there’s no better band than Oogee Wawa”.
