Band Will Perform Music From Each Incarnation of the Famed Rock Group’s Music From the 1970’s Through 1990’s Along with Jam Stampede- A Tribute to The Grateful Dead
January, 2017 (New York, NY) — Returning from a recent trip to the West Coast where he rocked two performances with Fred Herrera and Alex Del Zoppo, founding members of Sweetwater, singer/songwriter and guitarist Mark Newman will be stepping “in the shoes” of another legendary rock outfit when his Sailin’ Shoes- A Tribute to Little Feat rocks B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in NYC on Tuesday, January 31st! The band will be joined by Jam Stampede playing the music of The Grateful Dead for a non-stop evening of great classic tunes!
Sailin’ Shoes, a Tribute to Little Feat debuted in December 2012 as a labor of love covering not just the early years of Little Feat but also each incarnation. Songs from the 70’s featuring Lowell George through the 90’s featuring Shawn Murphy and back again. Comprised of Mark Newman (Guitar, Slide Guitar & Vocals), Mark Bonder (Keyboard & Vocals), Dave Diamond (Drums & Vocals), Dave Filloramo (Guitar, Slide Guitar, Pedal Steel & Vocals), Raymound Hauck (Percussion), Naomi Margolin (Vocals), and Craig Privett (Bass & Vocals)- members of the band have played all over the world performing with some of Rock n Roll’s greats such as: Willie Deville,John Oates, Sam the Sham, Donna Jean Godchaux, Bob Weir, Levon Helm, Maceo Parker, the Wailers, Todd Rundgren, Sam Moore, Stanley Jordan, Richie Havens, Robert Randolph, Pete Francis (Dispatch), Sting, Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Rick Derringer and more!
A New York native, Mark Newman’s musical prowess has taken him around the world several times over, playing with an eclectic mix of noted musical talents from Sting to Elvis Costello, and Travis Tritt as well as his own solo work. A multi stringsman, Mark has mastered electric/acoustic/lap steel guitar as well as the mandolin and dobro, and with a voice reminiscent of many rock and bluesmen before him- it has the familiarity of an old friend yet the power and soul of many of today’s rock, soul, folk and R&B icons. For over five years, Newman and fellow songwriter Naomi Margolin have run the “Music From the Hive” Singer/Songwriter Series, and for the past two years- “The Original Music Series” for bands, in an attempt to keep original music alive on Long Island. Newman also records and produces local artists in the Long Island/NYC area.
Along with further shows both solo and with Sailin’ Shoes kicking off 2017, you’ll want to make sure you check him out performing some of Little Feat’s best and most lasting songs along with music from Jam Stampede- A Tribute to The Grateful Dead on Tuesday, January 31st at B.B.
